Van Mildert College JCR

The bar is a place designed to let the good times roll!  During the day it can be used as a social space to chill out and chat or watch a film.  By night, the bar is frequently transformed into a venue for bar parties, balls, open mic nights, formals and more. 

At least once a term we try and put on something truly special for college in the bar.  Previous years have seen Munich’s Oktoberfest combined with Halloween to make for a weekend-long festival atmosphere, a summer cider festival to celebrate the end of exams, and other themed late-night bar parties!

As well as stocking the usual selection of lagers and ciders on tap, we also have an extensive selection of bottled beers, ciders, alcopops, wines, and almost every spirit/whiskey under the sun!  For you bitter connoisseurs we also hold a real ale on tap and rotate through a guest real ale and a guest cider every month.  For those preferring something less hard-hitting, we offer a full range of fizzy drinks, juices, and cordials along with an array of crisps/peanuts to bide you over between meals.

Every term we usually look to hire new Team Bar members, with 3 places on Bar Committee available in first term.  Whilst these are paid jobs, the work is also fun, relatively relaxed, and very sociable!  All are rewarded for their help and efforts with socials once a term!
