Our team of International Fresher’s Reps are working hard to prepare some amazing activities ahead of your arrival! International Fresher’s Week begins on Wednesday 23rd September, three days before Welcome and Orientation Week. During these days you have the opportunity to get to know Durham and the lovely people in it through various events and activities arranged by the JCR. In order to partake in this, you will need to purchase a Fresher’s week wristband which will be available early in September. Hello and welcome to all of our wonderful incoming international students to Van Mildert College!
Mildert is proud to be home to a vibrant and warm community of international students from all across the globe — across languages, nationalities and ethnicities, we are excited to welcome you here.
I am Akshita, and I am honoured to be your International Officer this year. As a foreign student from India myself, I understand how exciting (and overwhelming) moving to a new country can be. So, this year, I am here to make sure all our international students feel welcomed, supported and at home in Mildert! Along with our International Freps and Committee, we are excited to welcome you to our college by organising a 3-day International Freshers’ Week full of activities and exciting events.
As you prepare to arrive at Mildert we will be helping you with your bags’, taking you around town and ensuring that you get settled in as a true Mildertian. Throughout the year, we will be celebrating global festivals like Diwali, Lunar New Year, Thanksgiving and providing opportunities for you to exchange stories, culture and have a great time with some wonderful people. Whether it’s exchanging food at potlucks, trying special international cocktails at our college bar or even if you just need a supportive ear, we will be there for you.
